*** Kids Win

WASHINGTON, D.C. (LNS)—The Supreme Court has upheld (7 to 2) the right of three Des Moines high school students to wear black armbands to school in protest of the Vietnam War.

The majority opinion stated that students and teachers don’t shed “their Constitutional right to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate.”

Justice Black in a dissenting opinion said the decision subjects all public schools to the whims of their “loudest mouthed” students. He denied “any belief (in) what the Court did today.”

*** Student Loses

DENVER (LNS)—David Bishop, 26, was indicted by the Federal Grand Jury in Denver Feb. 14, for dynamiting power lines which serve defense plants.

He is the second American ever indicted under a World War I sabotage act. The first pled guilty last week to an attempted bombing of the ROTC building at Washington University in St. Louis.
