Dave Valler passed his sanity tests with flying colors and has pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of grass.

Valler’s court-appointed attorney requested the sanity hearings contending that, “Valler’s habitual and heavy use of drugs impaired his mental ability.” (See FE #77, April 17–30, 1969).

However, the Recorder’s Court psychiatric clinic reported that he was sane and of superior intelligence.

Valler then entered a plea of guilty to the two charges of possession with the sales charges being dropped. Judge Sam Olsen will sentence him May 26 when he faces up to ten years in prison.

Valler, who has been in the slam since Oct. 9 still faces charges of conspiracy to bomb government buildings and police cars.

The conspiracy trial of Valler and six others is scheduled to begin in September.

Dave can receive mail at 525 Clinton St., Ward 510, Detroit, Michigan.

Freedom School Set

A Freedom School is being started by Youth for Peace, Freedom and Justice because of the “lack of relevance of white suburban schools to life in this age.”

The classes will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, Woodward at Holbrook, May 24 from noon to 6 p.m.

Courses will be held on racism, women’s liberation, legal rights, the working class and several other subjects.

Films will be shown of the Columbia revolt, the Yippie film of the Democratic Convention, and the Black Panther film.

A spokesman for the YPFJ said “we want a school situation where we can objectively analyze the power structure free from its restrictions.”

Huey Posters

CHICAGO (LNS)—A “Free Huey Now!” poster has been published by SDS and can be obtained for $1 from the SDS National Office, 1608 W. Madison St., Chicago, IL 60612.

The poster shows a black militant resisting police force, with a quotation from Huey P. Newton, Minister of Defense of the Black Panther Party:

“The blood, sweat, tears and suffering of Black people are the foundation of the wealth and power of the United States of America. We were forced to build America, and if forced to, we will tear it down. The immediate result of this destruction will be suffering and bloodshed. But the end result will be perpetual peace for all mankind.”
