MAN! An Anthology of Anarchist Ideas, Essays, Poetry and Commentaries. Edited by Marcus Graham
The monthly journal MAN! was published in the United States from 1933 until 1940, when it was suppressed by the federal government and its editor, Marcus Graham, thrown in jail. Compiled into this 638 page book is some of the best material from that journal, covering such diverse subjects as Spain, technology, anarchism and poetry (plus much more). As relevant today as it was during the seven and a half years of publication.

There is a new book being published in England that was the last thing Joe Jacobs was writing before he died in March of 1977. The book, entitled MY YOUTH IN THE EAST END: COMMUNISM AND FASCISM 1913–1939, is a historical look at England during that period, thru the eyes of an active participant. It ends by being highly critical of the actions of the British Communist Party and of world communism in general from a militant standpoint.
The book will be out by the middle of September and will consist of over 300 pages. To help raise money to cover publishing costs, there is a reduced subscription rate of approximately $3.00 (postage included). All subs are due before the end of July. Write to: SIMON Janet, 29 Troutback, Albany St., London NW, England (make checks and money orders out to: J.L. Simon).
There is a new publication out from England entitled: BORROWED TIME: AN ANTI-AUTHORITARIAN BULLETIN OF NEWS’ CONTACT AND DEBATE. A sort of magazine along the lines of SYNTHESIS. Copies are available by writing: Borrowed Time, Box 100 Rising Free, 182 Upper Street, London N1, England.
The latest CIENFUEGOS ANARCHIST REVIEW (No.4) is on its way out. If you’d like to order copies in advance (which would help Cienfuegos/Black Flag overcome some of their financial problems), just send $6.00 (+ $1.00 postage) to Ceinfuegos, Box A, Over The Water, Sanday, Orkney, UK. Or, we should be getting copies soon and you can get them from us (which would help our money problems!).
Below are some new books and pamphlets that we don’t carry at this time:
THE AUTOBIOGRAPHIES OF THE HAYMARKET MARTYRS, Philip S. Foner, ed.
THE GREAT LABOR UPRISING OF 1877, Philip F. Foner.
Despite the title of the first book, it’s really quite a good history of that period and the men who were murdered by the State for their beliefs. The second is another good historical book, which is usual with Foners books (both of the books will be carried by us as soon as we can get them).
