THE FIFTH ESTATE ANNOUNCES:

A DESIGN COMPETITION FOR THE U.S.-SAUDI WAR MEMORIAL

Entries should be based on some of the following design elements:

* A war for oil.

* The slaughter of youth and innocents on both sides.

* Industrialism’s demand to sustain oil as the dominant energy source despite its ecological destructiveness.

* Finding a new enemy to justify massive war budgets.

Any other appropriate ideas from the accompanying Fifth Estate article [“War in Iraq: Imperial Death Trip to Nowhere,” FE #335, Winter, 1990–91].

Send designs to us and a copy to the man who will preside over this monument’s dedication—George Bush.
